President promises more tax cuts, others cry for more federal aid.
According to a new Gallup poll, registered voters ranked the economy as the top issue for the upcoming election. Nearly nine in 10 considered the presidential candidates’ positions on the economy “extremely” or “very” important to their vote.
President Trump said Monday that he would push for another significant tax cut if he is reelected. He wants to lower income tax from 22% to 15%, create a tax-free savings account for the middle class, and revive the payroll tax cut idea. His goal is to get help for people who make less than $100,000 a year.
Others are looking for Congress and the Administration to come together on another fiscal stimulus bill as many disadvantaged sectors remain in the American economy where additional aid is sorely needed.
Other issues of concern to the voters, but which were outranked by the economy, included terrorism and national security, education, healthcare, crime, and race relations.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For voters across America, many of whom are already casting their ballots, to be discerning and prayerful as they vote for candidates all across the ballot.
- For the American economy that struggles to regain its footing after the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.
- For Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Mnuchin as they continue to negotiate another relief funding package.
- For President Trump to continue his recovery and get enough rest even as he engages in leading the nation.
